NoKo Vs. Asia
It goes without saying that the key to North Korea is through Beijing. If the US wanted to play a high stakes game, they could threaten China with tariffs if they wanted play to domestic isolationists...although the election is over...On the other hand, if the US could at least knock off some of the trade with China, they would decrease their trade deficit. Probably not wise, but knowing this admin, who knows, right?....

Just thinking out loud...

Bush APEC agenda centres on trade, North Korea

WASHINGTON: In his first trip abroad since winning a second term, US President George W. Bush heads to an Asia-Pacific summit in Chile hoping to revive global trade talks and kill off North Korea's nuclear programme.

The war on terrorism will also loom large as Bush attends the November 20-21 Asia-Pacific Economic forum, then makes a brief official visit to Chile and a quick stop in Colombia before heading back to Washington.

Likewise, Bush aimed for progress towards the "complete, verifiable, and irreversible" dismantling of North Korea's nuclear weapons programs - though there, too, aides would not say exactly what he hoped to get from APEC.

Interesting...Irreversible...Iran seems to have a pretty sweet deal with only agreeing to 'stop' rather than 'destroy' their program.
