Career Options for Powell
Do you wanna make tea at the BBC?
Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?
Career opportunities are the ones that never knock
Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock

So Powell is quitting? He has a *real* opportunity to do something positive now that Arafat's out of the way. I was just listening to some pundit on the always excitable Chris Matthews blabfest yesterday say "It would be inconceivable with the death of Arafat for Powell to leave the administration". Instead, he picks the weekend after Arafat's death to let it leak out that he's leaving. His last political play: discrediting Chris Matthews.

Next up for Powell? Tea at the BBC.
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell tells aides he will leave Bush cabinet
WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Colin Powell and three other cabinet members submitted their resignations, a senior administration official said Monday, as the shakeup of President George W. Bush's second-term team escalated.

Besides Powell, who had argued Bush's case for ousting Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein before a skeptical UN Security Council in February 2003, others whose resignations were confirmed Monday included Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, Education Secretary Rod Paige and Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham.

Not Spencer!
Most of the speculation on a successor has centred on UN Ambassador John Danforth, a Republican and former U.S. senator from Missouri, and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

Hey the UN ambassador! (Fill in your own sarcastic remark here).
