Indonesia wants a permanent seat at the UN Security Council? How about China, instead? or...We ditch France and add both Indonesia and China?

Indonesia says it wants permanent Security Council seat

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesia announced on Monday its aspiration for a permanent seat on an expanded United Nations Security Council, saying it should be given a voice on thecouncil.

"A developing world striving not only for social and economic progress but also for democratization must have a voice on the Security Council. Moderate Islam must have a voice on the council.Indonesia would be that voice," Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda told world leaders.

He recalled that Australia last year proposed the inclusion of Indonesia as a permanent member on the council, saying "it greatly encouraged us."

Wow. Okay, first off, I had no idea that Australia would do that. It seems strange since, for starters, Australia has had to secure East Timor against raging Indonesian ...uh, 'militants'. And, when Australia pointed out that it was an 'Asian'
country a few years ago, the 'rest' of Asia was up in arms, including Indonesia. Things change, I suppose. Maybe the Bali incident has driven the two governments closer.
