Israel and the US

And watch your back cause you might get smoked, loc

A couple of notes....on the front of the post yesterday there was the article about Israel attacking Hamas leaders inside Syria...and Hamas responding that they will take the battle outside of Israel's borders. And that's the 'Wrong Move'. If Hamas attacks Israelis outside another country, say Italy, for example, the Italians will have an incentive to go after Hamas. Hamas will be in a PR disaster, as will the Jihadists groups in the ME (like they don't already).

Anyways, this is an opportunity for Israel as the world is otherwise occupied with Darfur and Iraq and does not have time for the Pal vs. Israel problem. Arafat is sidelined, the jihadis are suffering from fatigue and the wall, for the most part has been a success. Israel is securing their borders and being proactive on attacking those harbouring terrorists.

The US...

Nobody took note, but Bush said unequivocally that Iran will never obtain an atomic bomb and said that through joint operations whether through the UN, with Israel or in tandem with those who were supposed to be the 'responsible ones' (Germany, France and Britain) they will thwart the nuclear ambitions of the hardline Iranians.

Now...

The Iranian *people* from all accounts are supposed to be pro-american (when have I heard this before?) and are supposed to be 'begging' for an invasion of Iran. This is an assinine and arrogant assumption, and almost certainly wrong. The hardliners own the place, and the reformists have lost the support of the ordinary Iranian..why? because external threats are driving them into the arms of those least inclined to be 'accomodating'. The US is still enemy number one.
