Largest muslim nation on earth.....Engage!
Good to see Koizumi is on the ball with FTA with the indonesians. Why is this good? Because Indonesia has a long way to progress, and the cheap goods and food that indonesia can provide will be a relief for japanese consumers in a slumping economy. Also, as a part of a kind of "containment" of the Ummah, engagement and close ties with the world's largest muslim country is a good idea. The more cut off and economically destroyed muslim nations are also the most radical. even saudi arabia with its fabulous wealth, has many economically displaced young men with no jobs or future...

providing opportunites for economic and diplomatic engagement with indonesia is smart. good work!

Eminem: what a guy
What a generous human.

Yeah Right, and Hamas is non-violent......
from the "i can't believe this crap" comes.....(from Taiwan's CNA):

U.S. KNOWS PLEBISCITE WILL NOT BE USED TO JUSTIFY TAIWAN INDEPENDENCE
2003-06-24 23:01:30

Taipei, June 24 (CNA) The United States fully understands that a plebiscite planned by the Executive Yuan will not be used to justify any attempts by Taiwan to secure permanent separation from mainland China, Executive Yuan spokesman Lin Chia-lung said Tuesday.

Taiwan has made it clear to Washington that the measures being worked on by the Executive Yuan are to make possible a plebiscite, despite the absence of any law in this regard, that will be aimed at gauging public opinion on public policy and non-political issues.

Taiwan has successfully got the message across to the United States through different channels, including through Foreign Minister Eugene Chien, who is currently visiting the United States.

Admitting that Washington has expressed its concerns over Premier Yu Shyi-kun's statement that his Cabinet is mulling the idea of plebiscite by decree, Lin said that as one of Taiwan's firm friends, it is only natural for Washington to be concerned about a possible political repercussion on Taipei's ties with Beijing.

However, Lin added that the Executive Yuan will not be stopped by outside interference from giving the people a voice in shaping the country's policy, which he described as an inalienable right of the people.
