Monument to Sadako: Sadako, a 13 yr old A-bomb survivor, believed she could save herself her radiation poisoning by making 1300 origami birds. She didn't quite reach her total before she died, but millions of people have been inspired by her story to create origami birds for her, and every year millions of paper birds are shipped to her monument. The coloured cases in the background are filled with origami birds. While this picture was taken, a Japanese couple (just out of view) was sitting in the rain making origami birds for the monument.
