Spector's Backhand
What we need is awareness
We can't get careless
--Public Enemy

Spector is lighting a fire....There's been a lot of hating on Norm lately, but if you are a critic of the Liberals, you can appreciate this column....

....After a few few opening shots across the bow, there is this uppercut:
Mr. Kinsella, too, is a lawyer, although given his statements and antics, you have to wonder where the disciplinary committee of the Law Society of Upper Canada is.
Ouch. I thought General Klapp got off a little easy at during the Gomery Commission....Here's why:

In his appearance before the commission, Mr. Kinsella was questioned not by Bernard Roy, but by Neil Finkelstein, a lawyer who worked for Ontario attorney-general Ian Scott — a Liberal, and the brother of Mr. Chrétien's lawyer David Scott. Mr. Finkelstein also has long-standing links with two of Mr. Chrétien's closest confidants, Eric Maldoff and Eddie Goldenberg, and advised Clyde Wells during the Meech Lake constitutional saga.

Mr. Kinsella would have had a much tougher time against Bernard Roy, who knows how Ottawa works. It's easy to understand why Mr. Chrétien would also prefer Mr. Finkelstein's lighter touch.

Lame. Unfortunate but interesting....there's more:

Mr. Chrétien's protégé was into sponsorship approvals; later, Jean Carle manufactured a fictitious invoice at the Business Development Bank and attempted to “ruin the career” of the bank president, who had displeased Mr. Chrétien.

---------------------

After he finishes testifying, Mr. Chrétien will consider whether to take Judge Gomery to court. Even if he decides not to, Mr. Chrétien will use the doubts his team have already cast on Judge Gomery's final report to try to salvage his legacy, to the extent possible.

I know in my mind Chretien's rep has always been about as negative as possible-What can you say about a pseudo-tyrant, with more shady friends and dealings than Jon Gotti? Between Carle and Gagliano, you have about as much thuggery as Capone and Scarface.

Just out of curiosity, isn't it that laywers justify their defense of guilty men by saying "It's better to see a 100 men go free than 1 innocent man imprisoned?"
The judge said five to ten-but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
--The Clash

I think we're about to see more than 100 guilty walk on this one. What a shame. I'm hoping that Gomery goes into tomorrow acting like he's going to be a doormat, but comes out the hero. If ever there was a time for a guy to do the right thing it's now. It's time for Chretien to testify:
Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now controls the past
Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now?

Now testify
Testify
It's right outside our door
Now testify
--RATM

If there was ever a time to come up big, it's now. Gomery and Roy have got to pull it together and give this corrupted sychophant and his apologist friends a kick in the pants. 60 M? What does that work out to? About a $2/head for every Canadian?

I'd being paying several multiples of that for a chance to break my foot off in Chretien's ass.
