The Lack of Legwork by Antonia
I'm coming to get cha
I'm coming to get cha
Spittin' out lyrics
Hommie, I want cha
--House of Pain.

Antonia Zerbisias, the infamous Star 'columnist', has been writing of the imminent demise of the right wing blogosphere since its birth. In truth, her writing sounds like the beliefs of certain fundamentalists, believing that the end is nigh! Repent, O' Right wingers!

Antonia's main complaint, is the same complaint that J. Kelly Nestruck had: Bloggers have to watch out, or the media won't play with them anymore. And oh, by the way, bloggers are just lazy wankers, sitting there criticizing, like a Toronto Star columnist....or as if this was a free society. Specifically, she says:
"You couldn't have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances (on network news) and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing."

By checks and balances, Klein meant the rigours of professional journalism — and not the opinionating of the blogosphere.

Ironically, bloggers mostly feed off the work of professional journalists who do the legwork. But, like parasites too stupid to realize they are killing off their hosts, the pajamahadeen don't get it every time they dig more dirt for our mass grave.

I would now like to point out that Antonia's only interesting work has been when she attacks bloggers in her Star Column. In fact, she leaves comments all over LGF, and attempts to stir up the **** there on a regular basis....and most of her 'columns' are based on ideas from the blogosphere. *fill in your own 'parasite' joke here* What 'legwork' is she doing, other than surfing the net like a blogger and writing down her thoughts, like a blogger? If it looks like an out of shape pajamahadeen, and it smells like a lazy pajamahadeen.....

The only difference is, most bloggers blog for free while holding down jobs and school and a life, while Antonia gets paid for her sub par performance. The barriers to entry have fallen, and every household in the nation holds the same tools of the journalistic trade. While law, accounting, medicine and business all have their own standards, language and tools, etc, the truth is that to be a opinion columnist, all you need is an opinion and the means to publish. If you are read, good for you! If not, welcome to my world!

Antonia feels a little threatened by her cheap competition and why not? With the value of her work plummeting, and the relative value of bloggers increasing, the skill level required to get out of this huge mass of writers will be stifling. Is it getting a little hot under the collar? Time to roll out the 'mass grave' reference.

Ahh, that's a great quote from Klein as well: An executive watches his star journalist go down in flames because of lazy and, well, stupid work...and he has the gall to revel in the 'rigours' of journalism. It was the fact checking of bloggers that revealed the truth of CBS' documents-- not the tunnel vision of the liberal media, intent on propagandizing during an election.

------------------------------
But seriously, I have to ask: What is the mass media really going to do? I'm calling out the MSM. What are you going to do about self publishing and opinion? Censorship? Calls for 'regulation'? Of what? Free speech? Will they 'identify' bloggers and blacklist them?

"Oh no! You can't have a subsription to the Toronto Star! You have an opinion! Mindless automatons only, thank very much!"

Take that weak **** outta here.
