Shifting Electorate

Electoral Vote Predictor 2004: Kerry 253 Bush 247

Interesting: As the election draws near, the red states have become 'redder'. The core states of Bush have gone farther to the right, even as his overall EV's have gone down.

What does this mean? He doesn't have to spend as much time in his core constituencies and can concentrate on Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maine, New Hampshire, Iowa and (shock!) New Jersey (?). Last week he had to do a pit stop in Colorado to shore up support...that was a waste of time and resources for him.

Kerry seems to have really eaten into some of the midwest. With a foothold in Illinois, he seems to have expanded into the swing state of Wisconsin, and now looks like he has a lock on Michigan.
