Allawi, DNC Vs. RNC, etc.

Here's the google news rundown. Yeah, I am lazy but...busy (?) so I won't link to anything in particular. The Times seems to think that the whole thing is a joke, and I believe the *Official Democrat Talking Points* indicate that

1) Allawi's a puppet
2) The elections are not going to be valid
3) The US should withdraw

Oh boy, where to start. *Sigh*

1) Allawi was appointed by Rahimi, the UN's Middle East 'Man on Point'
2) Reeeeeeaaaally? What if the Democrats win (they won't)? Will they ensure 'valid' elections? What's the basis for this? ....They won't be valid because only 15 of the 18 voting districts will be included? Because Kofi said so?
3) Yeah, that's a great sign for the US to send the world. Remember the Japanese preparation for the US invasion in WW2? Pitchforks, hedge fights and shore defense prep? Might as well start now.

Random Points:
*Shock*: I'm not down with the republicans. I can honestly say that I deplore about 90% of their domestic agenda, and about the same percentage of their foreign policy as well. I think this site backs that up.. What I do appreciate is that the republicans have an idealist streak that envisions free nations across the ME. I understand also that their rush to implement this vision has been flawed, exponentially. They drifted into 'occupation lite' and they have paid for it. They overestimated the upside potential of the occupation and have downplayed all the danger. Poor judgement, no doubt.

The Democrats, unfortunately, are really not appealing. I'm not an American and I'm not voting down there, so this means nothing. But. Kerry has proven to be of two minds about everything, has been implicated in 'Rathergate' and has shown some problems with judgement himeslf (IE: Stating that the US will pull out of Iraq in six months).

So...

We are left with a battle of two substandard (to my mind) candidates. For the democrats, I wish Lieberman would have been chosen this year and I wish that McCain would have been chose in 2000 for the republican candidacy. That's just me. I think both of those men would have been fine leaders, but we will see how everything plays out...someday, maybe, someday...

Watch the animated link at the upper right to watch how badly Bush will destroy Kerry. Already, he has firmed up all his core midwest states and now it looks like the route is on. Florida has fallen...and I predict Pennsylvania will be next.

Stay tuned.
