What Happened to Big Beat?

Daft Punk? MIA
Chemical Brothers? Busy doing 'T in the Park'
Death in Vegas? MIA

Fatboy Slim?

after a serious hiatus, the king of House is back for a spin. from RS:

Fatboy Slim will release Palookaville, his fourth album and first in four years, on October 5th.

Palookaville, the title a reference to the classic film On the Waterfront, reunites Slim (a.k.a. Norman Cook) with Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins (they worked together on "Weapon of Choice" from 2000's Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars) on the set's first single, "The Joker," a reworking of the Steve Miller Band's chart-topping 1973 song.

That's nice. But where is everybody else? Seriously, dance music does not stay out of the mainstream for too long. New Order and friends started something with the beats, and really, its been too long. It came from "afrikaaa-ka-ka" just did not cut it. Oakenfold? Bad Boy Bill? Daft?
