OTTAWA - Auditor General Sheila Fraser stood by her report into the federal sponsorship program on Monday, despite recent testimony in front of a parliamentary committee that has criticized it as being inaccurate and misleading.

Fraser, speaking at the public accounts committee that is investigating the sponsorship program, reiterated her previous claims that the program had "serious failings."

"We do stand by our report," she said.

"When you look at the logic…we arrive at conclusions that are balanced and accurate," Fraser said.

She outlined a number of key missing elements of specific sponsorship programs including:

Appropriate documentation.
Rationale supporting an event.
Information on why a particular event would be awarded a particular amount.
Contracts that clearly specified what goods and services were to be provided.
An analysis to support the dollar amount for each event.

of course this is exactly what she said the first time. there is no problem with missing money: it all went to liberal ad firms who did little or no work for it. nobody's disputing that fact. the real problem is *gasp* somebody pointed it out! in public! and people....yikes...revere the accuser!
