Al Qaeda, The Saudi Civil War and Terror
So, lacking foreign targets, al qaeda is attacking their own countrymen. way to alienate your target market. not smart politically. not smart anyways. at least the saudi civil war is being kept within saudi arabia.
Al-Qaeda blamed for Riyadh bomb
The blast wrecked the security forces headquarters in Riyadh
Saudi officials have blamed al-Qaeda for a suicide bomb attack in Riyadh that killed four people, including two security officials. At least 148 people were injured in the attack outside the headquarters of the security forces in the Saudi capital.
"Who else sends suicide bombers to blow up cars in the midst of urban centres?" an official told reporters.
The US, which ordered its non-essential staff to leave Riyadh last week, also cited Osama Bin Laden's network.
The attack again today on Riyadh was a reminder that there are people that would like... to overthrow the ruling government
US President George W Bush
An unnamed US counterterrorism official told the Associated Press news agency that the bombing had the hallmarks of al-Qaeda, whose supporters have been blamed for blasts in Riyadh last year as well as the 11 September 2001 attacks in the US and explosions in Madrid and Bali.
US President George W Bush said those responsible wanted to destabilise Saudi Arabia.
"The attack again today on Riyadh was a reminder that there are people that would like... to overthrow the ruling government," he told a meeting of US newspaper editors.
"They certainly want to frighten everybody and kill as many as they can," he added.
