The REAL IRA: Really Stupid.

okay, imagine for an instance that you have joined a movement that wants to reunite the north and south of ireland. your most obvious obstacle is the british government and the protestants of the north. imagine that you are willing to use violence and coersion to make this happen.

you know your enemies and your goals. now why would you attack the very people who pose no threat to you and support your goals (if not your means.)?

this poses are more serious question: are the amoral idiots who planned the cork firebombing retarded?

March 26, 2004

(14:06) Four men arrested in connection with an alleged Real IRA firebomb attack on a house in Co Cork earlier this week have been charged at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin with membership of an illegal organisation.

Three of the four were remanded in custody for a week. The fourth was freed on bail.

19-year-old Alan Hickey, of Ballygibbon, Co Cork, and 21-year-old Anthony Crowley, of Stoneview, Blarney, Co Cork, were each charged with membership of the IRA.

24-year-old Jonathan O'Rourke, of Willison Park, Blarney, Co Cork, and 22-year-old Paul McCarthy, of Assumption Terrace, Station Road, Blarney, Co Cork, were each charged with membership of an illegal organisation.

The court remanded the first three of the accused in custody until next Friday when a bail application is expected to be made.

Mr McCarthy was freed on independent bail of €10,000. He was ordered to sign on daily at Gurranabraher Garda Station in Cork City, to surrender his passport and not to associate with anyone convicted of a scheduled offence. He too was remanded until next Friday.

why even assign these imbeciles terrorist status? they are too lazy to make 5hr trip to the trip to the north to make an attack and instead firebomb their own community for a 'political purpose'?
