Janet, ms jackson if you're nasty.

Here's rollingstone's take on the new album

Remember 1989? janet actually said something of interest that year, talking about power and politics on Rhythm Nation:

Sample:

With music by our side
To break the color lines
Let's work together
To improve our way of life
Join voices in protest
To social injustice
A generation full of courage
Come forth with me
-------------------------
a call to arms to fight injustice. not a bad message, and not unlike the character of the time....nwa did its own bit of social conscious awareness, as did public enemy.

but those days have past, and there's nothing wrong with change (although social consciousness shouldn't be a fad)...but even janet's original 'control' album was about confidence and being real. now all that's left is shock value. she is milking whatever remaining sexual appeal she can from her overused, overexploited, way-too-much-mileage body.

i'm not trying to be a moral prude, here. i could not care less that she exposed herself on tv, and did not see why the fcc or america in general became so uptight about the whole thing. but, after a decade of unimaginative sexual posturing, boring pop trash, and overal uninteresting music janet should consider being revolutionary (like madonna on a good decade) or dropping out of the scene.

she is taking up valuable space for newcomers in the business, and every moment she is on mtv, muchmusic or vh1, she takes up airtime of someone who is young, hungry...or someone who has something of value to communicate. can anyone really say that they need to hear another diva say:

"I feel you get erect," she sings, before cooing, "There's no place warmer than my mouth." And, finally, after nearly four minutes, she demands, "Now it's my turn."

boring. heard it before. it was called 'janet'. you know? 10 years ago? you said the same thing. For raw sexuality, I'll take Peaches over Janet any day. Peaches is real and relevant. Janet is silicone and banality.

boooooooo! to you janet. ms janetis nasty.
