China v India
AFP has the goods on the new attempts to smooth out the relationship between India and china.....The economist weighs in over here.
the actual trade between these two behemoths is so small (5 B) and their economies have so much potential, its ridiculous. If china can carry on with its progress towards a developed economy, a massive middle class could rise up that would outnumber the US just by sheer volume. While the US has a massive middle class of its 300 million, China could have an entire middle class of 300m. Easily. Possibly within 20 (according to some estimates). Just imagine the implications....
That is a long way off as china's per capita GDP is not yet breaching 1000/annum. The country could possibly suffer from the same syndrome brazil suffers from:
"Brazil has been and always will be the country of tomorrow."---in other words, it may just have a lot of potential that never comes to fruition.
