Lebanon Vs. Israel: Horrowshow

I can't believe the news today
Oh I can't close my eyes
And make it go away

Just an aside from the news today....
Israel is also demanding the disarming of Hizbollah in line with U.N. Security Council resolutions -- a task that is beyond a fragile Lebanese government dependent on consensus among rival sectarian groups, of which Shi'ite Muslims form the largest.

Lebanon, just emerging from three decades of Syrian tutelage, fears that any attempt to tackle Hizbollah directly would re-ignite civil war and split its army.

Yeah, I think this might qualify as unreasonable, no? Does Israel really want Lebanon to go back to that state of perpetual sectarian violence? Isn't that why Israel occupied southern Lebanon for a long time?

It could be this is all an act between Israel and government of Lebanon. Lebanon is too weak to take Hizbollah, so why not allow the Israelis to fight a battle the Israelis are comfortable with and can win? Then again, if this were some coordinated show between the government and Israel, the Lebanese would probably ask that Israel not beat the crap out of the airport and power stations. Holy Jebus.

Either way, this is a horrorshow.
