Dion is Done

You want it all but you cant have it
Its cryin, bleedin, lying on the floor
So you lay down on it and you do it some more
Youve got to share it, so you dare it
Then you bare it and you tear it
You want it all but you cant have it
Its in your face but you cant grab it
--Faith No More

Dion and friends put on their best face:
Licking their wounds after a three-riding shutout in Quebec, shell-shocked Liberals insist they're united and firmly behind their leader Stephane Dion.

As the NDP rejoiced over a breakthrough in the Montreal riding of Outremont, the governing Conservatives eyed their own victory in Bloc Quebecois territory as a sign their party is staking critical new ground. But pundits don't think the byelection results will embolden any party to trigger a general election this fall.

Downplaying the results as a "setback" with minor impact on the overall federal scene, Quebec Liberal MP Denis Coderre denied the knives will be out for Dion.

"I'm sending a clear message of unity. I'm not letting anyone try to divide us. I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt," he said. "It's a setback. It hurt. We have a situation outside Montreal since the last election, so we need to take note of that."

In Outremont the Bloc backed the NDP to form a coalition of "anyone but a Liberal" and it worked. The House of Commons has no need of a Liberal partner in forming a government due to Commons electoral math and the NDP and Bloc know it. They eliminated Dion as a player as Dion pushed himself into irrelevance with his leadership... Interesting, but not as interesting as Faith No More:
