France + US Vs. Syria

I seen you around for a long long time, yeah
I really remembered you when you drank my wine
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?

France and the US decided to make up and tag team against the Syrians in the mismatch of the century:
France and U.S. to Press U.N. to Demand Syrian Cooperation
By WARREN HOGE and STEVEN R. WEISMAN

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 24 - The United States and France said Monday that they would push for Security Council action to demand that Syria end its obstruction of the United Nations investigation into the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister, Rafik Hariri.
Ok, so they decided to take this opportunity/excuse to come together in order to slice and dice some low hanging fruit.
Jean-Marc de la Sablière, the ambassador of France, said, "There is a lack of cooperation of the Syrians."

"We want to have the whole truth,"
"The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" he later added. But what if the Syrians don't want to cooperate?
Among the possibilities under discussion for punishing continued noncooperation by Damascus, diplomats said, would be a travel ban on Syrians suspected of involvement in the Hariri case or a freeze of their overseas assets.
Weak. Super hella-weak.

I guess they can't do much since Russia and China are dragging their feet on this one. Why? Because Russia is isolated on a boatload of issues, and China (I'm guessing) is kissing up to Assad because of oil interests. Again....
