In the locust wind
Comes a rattle and hum

What started as murmurs is slowly building into a distracting rumble:
Auditor slams Liberals
Billions spent without scrutiny, data vulnerable to hackers: Fraser
Andrew McIntosh
OTTAWA -- Auditor general Sheila Fraser blasted the federal government Tuesday for failing to protect information in its computer systems from dangerous hackers, not filling key top jobs at Crown corporations and for funnelling more than $9 billion into foundations that remain unaccountable to Parliament.
Can we get a truth and reconciliation commission for this one? Let me guess: the Liberals gave money to 'foundations' that coincidently contributed to the Liberals' political campaigns? Just a hunch.
Here's the overall funding by year and cumulatively.
Also, it looks like the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (one of the foundations mentioned in the audit) is a Liberal Contributor, contributing $251.62.
The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research Liberal Party of Canada Liberal Party of Canada Political Party Financial Transactions Return (1997) Registered Party Fiscal Period Return / Part 1b Other organizations 251.62Hilarious. And this is only the tip of the iceberg: only 11 'arms length' foundations were audited, and one of them was a contributor. I'm just guessing that at least a few of the other foundations were also used for kickbacks schemes.
