Even if you think that gay marriage should be banned (I don't), the reality is that gay people exist and need to be addressed by this society. The bible, ancient records and writings all show that people have been dealing with this fact for a long time. It's not a question of protecting innocence since we are finding through research, common sense and anectodotal evidence that this phenomenon is nature, not nurture.
Anyways, some people are trying to face reality while others still want sweep it all under the carpet:

January 27, 2005PORTLAND, Maine -- A cartoon bunny who visits a same-sex couple has the Bush administration outraged.
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings Tuesday blasted an episode of the Public Broadcasting Service's "Postcards from Buster," which features a family in Vermont headed by a lesbian couple.
PBS has decided to not distribute the episode to local affiliates.
