Matt Good: The Canadian Baldwin
(orginally via Let It Bleed)
When Matt Good isn't writing substandard lyrics like this:
That drive you to eat shit
Damn I'll bring them to their knees
(Ed--Sure you will, bro.)
...Matt spends his days attacking the US for any and all ills that befall the earth. Did the tide go out? The US probably pulled an aircraft carrier from the sea, right Matt?

Anyways, he uses what little remaining celebrity he has left to draw attention to the cost of Bush's inaugaration.... Anyone who has read this blog (all five of you) knows that I criticize Bush and GOP as much as the DNC, the Liberals, or useless rock stars with no credibility....and spending $40 mill on the ball, etc is quite a chunk. But the US has to keep the Matts of the world from carrying out their delusional little fantasies of bringing down the US.

But while it is unfortunate that the US did spend a chunk of money on security, etc, its amazing that Matt's obsessive 'voyeurism' of the US scene never allowed him to see or criticize spending like Kim Jong-Il's $500 Mill birthday -that Kim never attended. I guess Matt's only selectively a fiscal conservative.

After calling Matt on his tunnel vision, he wrote this in the comment section of his article when responding to my own criticism:
As for the realities of geopolitics, I won't bother asking you for your credentials. But, given your tone, I would assume that they are far advanced in comparison to professor Chomsky, Chalmers Johnson, professor Zinn, Juan Cole and a myriad of other academics. Thus, I am in absolutely no position to argue with you.
What a joke. This is a serious commentator? Name dropping instead of making an argument? Is this a strategy from the "Useless Celebrity Guide to Winning Arguments"?

Good is the Canadian equivalent of a Baldwin, except Matt's less talented.
Our job as celebrities is to read the paper, repeat what we read, and then pretend that what we say is our own opinion. --"Jeanine Garafolo", Team America

Step off, ya 90 pound neurotic.
