Liberals Vs. People with Ideas? libs lose big

i love how the liberals say that they will use the gas windfall to pay for medical equipment. anyone believe them? i don't. irregardless, its not going to solve the high prices or solve health care. they had ten years to clean up health care and they've just completely screwed it up.

Liberals offer no answers to soaring gas prices as election looms

OTTAWA (CP) - The Conservatives made pre-election mileage as the Liberals stalled Monday on the growing furore over gas prices.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper said he'd axe the GST on gas after it hits 85 cents a litre. "These are revenues that no one foresaw even a few months ago," he said during a luncheon speech in Winnipeg. "We are only depriving Ottawa of a massive windfall it didn't count on and that it doesn't need."

The Tories have chastised the Liberals for charging GST on top of federal excise tax, arguing that every one-cent increase in gasoline retail prices bloats federal tax revenue by $32 million a year.

Prices hovered around $1 a litre in parts of B.C. over the weekend, fuelling anger over perceived gas gouging. Growing frustration could power the issue to centre stage in the looming election.
