From the SXSW Blog At Spin
The highlight was Gabel’s “Baby, I’m an Anarchist,” perhaps the most ferociously, hilariously close-to-the-truth chronicle of dumb young heartbreak on the frontlines of dumb young activism that I’ve ever heard. The chorus alone blows holes in the tepid, better-late-than-never political posturing of famously anti-political label boss Fat Mike (how do Against Me! even exist in the same friggin’ scene as NOFX, let alone buy into their whole support system? Such are the absurd, strange-bedfellows times in which we live, Jeeves). Anyway, live the song comes off like some lost Minor Threat encore for disenchanted drunks who got kicked out of the Positive Force D.C. house for pissing in the vegan casserole.
Just an excerpt:
“'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist,
You're a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.”

baby, i'm an anarchist/you're a spineless liberal. i love it. i'm not going to be throwing bricks at starbucks (i've done much worse) anytime soon, but this is inspired.
