Thoughts on ah-nold
Arnold is in, yep, and Europe ate this up. The guardian and friends thought it was a joke.

What is a joke is the snobbery of some parts of europe. as one commentator pointed out, "when will you ever see a foreigner with a funny accent win political post in europe?". answer? never. north america is great for acceptance and tolerance of others. not like the damn french. (yes, irony was intended).

as much as i would like a small government republican with liberal social values, there are some problems with arnold:
1) he's a sexist, cheating bastard. this is pretty well documented, and anyone who uses the expression "eating isn't cheating" when caught with another women is not on the best foot.

2) lack of experience. the comparisons with reagan are far overrated. reagan had been actor, yes, but he was in politics for literally decades as a leader in the actors organizations before he leaped into the federal political circle. arnold's experience? an after school program for kids he initiated.

which is fine and good, and i'm sure it'll make a difference...its just not a long time political cv for governor, and when the most recent experience on the resume is "portrayed futuristic robot" it gets a little thin.

3) credibility. people laugh when they here his name. and its not that we don't love arnold, but he will have a hard time telling the public how serious things are, or trying to lay off sectors of the public sector when all anyone can think is "its not a tumour! its not a tumour at all!" or "i hope you leave enough room for my fist, cause i'm going to ram it down your throat".

however, if the alternative is davis, i'm down with arnie. the american political system was always meant for the new outsider to come in and cause change. bustamante is a long time politico with the democrats, who is still with davis for the recall.....anyways, who knows how that'll turn out. against the competitors in the democrats i'm with arnie, and the chances are he'll overcome most of the above mentioned problems.
