So proud, so flagrant, so shameless, so homeless.
I think Derbyshire said the other day that there was a time when poorer people would never blame others for their condition, and were not without exception abusers of all substances. The people represented here advertise their poor standing with society and only draw society's scorn. Not because they are poor, but because their plight is almost always (there are exceptions) because of poor choices....
anecdotally, you will find vancouver has a high homeless rate..why?....10 years of the NDP saying "you aren't responsible" and handouts and general bleeding hearts that make a society so soft, that there is now a resentful scorn from the those receiving the handouts...
it used to be the opposite...and obviously it was wrong..you can't be too hard, but being too soft makes dependency a must....free food, free lodging, free care and now...free drugs! perfect!
but now there is an unhealthy relationship between the state and the wards....where the wards, who are in some cases clearly parasites, believe they aren't lucky to have a caring nanny state...they believe they are entitled to a nanny state...and what the present nanny state gives them is never enough. teenagers never have a big enough allowance. unions never have high enough pay (okay that is overkill). CEO's never get big enough salaries.....
and the poor never have enough...of whatever society provides them...just to keep them alive and healthy, without reciprocation. have some shame, humility and common sense. when you provide society with nothing, and are simply a leech on the everyman, be humble when asking for whatever it is you want.
and the homeless don't have cell phones. i smell college activist do-gooders on holidays. no job this summer, eh? more student loans, boy-o? or is the bank of mom n' dad there for you?
