Naomi Strikes Again for the Forces of Diverting Attention.
Ya gotta love naomi klein. I agree with her on a lot of stuff. and i disagree with her even more. This new article is classic Naomi......

She is making an argument that canada's new drug/gay marriage/safe injection sites, which are simply socially liberally policies, somehow translate into a Canadian "weariness" of NAFTA, which is a fiscal conservative union. so, what's the implication here? she is equating "being Canadian" with being a liberal on all fronts.

Ridiculous.

I really like the transition point here..

So, does all this peace, love and drugs really mean that the United States and its closest neighbor and ally are parting ways? Much as I'd love to report that I really do live in "Soviet Canuckistan" (as Pat Buchanan has taken to calling us), it's mostly hype.

When he was elected in 1993, Chrétien pledged to reopen the North American Free Trade Agreement and negotiate a better deal for Canada. He immediately broke the promise. Now, months away from the end of Chrétien's decade in office, Canadians are keenly aware of how much independence we have lost under the agreement.

Our economic dependence on the United States is staggering

Yeah, thanks Nation editors, that was really pretty...suddenly she's talking about being socially liberal...and then oops...free trade gets in there. What the hell happened? How are these even remotely related? you can't be socially liberal and fiscally conservative? I know i am, so ergo this argument is crap.

i am the complete rebuttal to this crap article. thanks for coming out, naomi.
