Unbelievable. If the govenor had some sense, this would never have happened. And yes, the republicans have to shoulder some of the responsibility for being uncooperative. If old people are thrown out of old folks homes, the people should revolt:

The system of allowing only tax increases by referendum is quite insane as well. I can see that it could force the government to be responsible, but in a fiscal crisis you may need that flexibility....not that i'm big on tax increases, but....

Hey i got an idea: how about a place where what goes on between two consenting adults in a bedroom is nobody's business?....especially not the state. I'm starting to believe the democrats on the "assault on civil liberties" stuff.

I'm positive they should stay for at least a few years. Why? Because Pat Buchanan thinks the US should leave now. This is the clearest indication possible that the US should stay. Idiots are not from one side or the other of the political spectrum, and Mr. Buchanan is clearly the equal opportunity idiot from the right wing. anti-immigration, anti-free trade, anti-foreign policy, anti-international engagement and anti-intelligence:

We are told the United States cannot walk away from Iraq now, or it would descend into chaos. That may be true. But if chaos is one alternative, another is a no-win war such as Israel is today fighting against the Palestinians. And the chances of that are daily rising.

Wow. Let the US start a huge war, don't clean up and leave the country in pure anarchy....because there is a chance that there might be a no win situation. That is his reasoning. i'm not even changing anything here, really.

Actually, i think the US did a really good job with Germany and Japan. the US could even have a slogan for those successes "55 years and Fascist Free". Good work! Peaceful AND prosperous? The iraqis would be so lucky for the incompetence of those foreign policy adventures. And if Buchanan would read up on public opinion in Iraq, it is firmly on the side of wanting the US to stay. The kurds and shias overwelmingly so.

the sunnis are unfortunately saddamist loyalists. And you have to think that saddam is definitely behind this stuff. Obviously, as i've already written, the whole army was not destroyed and his republican guard essentially vanished.....into ....where? is it possible they may be holding the guns pointing at the US soldiers?
