its not that the incident was "friendly fire" accident, because yes, those accidents happen. in this case, two flyboys with a long history of poor judgement were high on speed and looking for a "kill" because their unit was embarrassed by an earlier incident. in this case the pilots were told explicitly not to attack the position where the canadians were. They were briefed about the training exercises. They were far too high in the sky to be hurt by small arms fire.

How stupid, how careless, how reckless and how negligent do you have to be before you get in trouble? oh yes, people die in war. but no, when you fire on your friends out of sheer negligence you should go down. i hope the families of the dead keep fighting.
