Gay Marriage
So Gay Marriage is in! its too bad that it had to happen like this (through the courts), but that is par for the course in Canada. Whenever there is anything contentious to be decided, the Federal Gov simply refers it to the courts....so most of the contentious issues are decided by an unelected and unaccountable group of appointed, "progressive" judges. Marijuana Laws? Refer to the courts! Seperation of Quebec from Canada? Courts! Abortion? Courts! Courts! Courts! Don't make the government make a decision about anything! somebody will be offended!

Mid/Near East Insanity
I was reading about the 16 dead (terrorists don't count) in and came across an interesting item from the AFP News:

"I strongly condemn the terrorist operation in Jerusalem, as strongly as I condemn the assassination attempt against (Abdul Aziz) al-Rantissi," Arafat said.

Why is this intriguing? Because the G8, the Guardian, the CBC, Reuters, AP and NPR will not call the work of Hamas et al as terrorism, yet THE most notorious (right up there with Osama) terrorist of all time, Yasser Arafat, will call it terrorism. If anyone knows terrorism, its him. Usually these organizations take him at his word..will they this time? not if it isn't PC....(Hey Yasser! Don't mention the summary executions of homosexuals to the progressive groups that support your cause.)

Lyrical Content
Now here's something of interest. Finally, rap will get some recognition in the lyrical content department...if only there was someone to give it to. I love rap and hip hop, but lyrically unless its public enemy, KRS-ONE, Zach de la Rocha, Slim Shady or the Streets...maybe Jurassic 5...the lyrical content is brutally lacking. If we eliminated the lyrical subjects of "ho's, bling-bling, guns and drugs" rap would not exist. beats and clever rhymes are great, but maybe instead of free association raps about the "Big Four" we could have real content. Hopefully, that's what this award will recognize.
